@nucleonic – This car (Quattroporte gen III) has nothing to do with the Biturbo as far as I know, except being made under De Tomaso ownership of Maserati. It is powered by a naturally aspirated V8, not a turbo unit, that became available only in the next generation Quattroporte IV.
As for the Biturbo generation, it would be about time to consider that while the first cars were plagued with problems, once the carburetors were replaced with Weber Marelli injection, and cars were improved over the years, most issues were solved. My family happily owned a 1989 2.24V from 1989 to 1995 and I currently own one of the same with which I’ve driven 7000 miles in two years with near to zero issues, once the car was properly taken care of. But, this is a Quattroporte, speaking about which, it is the same type of car that was used by the President of the Italian Republic Sandro Pertini for state appearances.
